annarti: (see it's like this...)
Adulting means getting excited about forecast sunny weekends in winter because it means you can do the washing. AWW YEAH.

I got a text from Super A-Mart telling me my bookcase is ready to pick up so I'll do that on the weekend, then next to get sorted is lighting and I might as well do the curtains at the same time. I got a voucher from my local council welcoming me to the area, which gives me free installation, so that's cool.

AND DECORATIONS. I can put useless pretty things all over my bedroom now :D

Oh also, my old wardrobes? Definitely constructed in the room. There was literally no way of manoeuvring them out of there. Sadly, they had to be broken into many pieces. It was almost as much fun as ripping the big fugly one out of the studio. I had the bid for $70 on ebay, which had been taken up to $81 when I went back to cancel the sale after demolition, but the only way those wardrobes were coming out of that room was in pieces, so. Oh well. It was fun 8D

I'm in a getting things done mood.

  • Tidy the goddamn desk for god's sake, 'narti.
  • Strain the soup.
  • Finish the washing up.
  • Turn on electric blanket.
  • Tidy the living/dining room if it needs it. I don't THINK so but let's add it to the list anyway.
  • Transfer Tsyllaes sand to glass bottles.
  • Stick that thing about hard rubbish collection in the bag in order to book it tomorrow.
  • On that note, see about the shed and if there's anything to tidy in there.
  • Also the dowel for that guy who bought the bed and is missing a dowel.
  • And the return to sender envelopes.
  • Bins.

  • My bedside table is so not going to sell. It's been on ebay for two weeks for $4 and hasn't got a bid with 26 minutes to go. It's 100% hard rubbish. Hopefully I can book the pickup for Monday, then I can haul all the crap onto the curb on Sunday and park my car in my garage. Wow.

    my plans for 2012

    annarti: (this r srs bzns)
This time next year I will:

    Finish Tarnish
This involves 15 chapters, or ~100k words at my average wordcount per chapter.
To achieve this I will write for half an hour/400 words a day at least. Regardless of writer's block. If it comes out crap, if I have to skip a chapter that's not working, if I can't make it work, so be it. Just write the damn thing, I can edit it later.

    Be 70kg
This involves losing 13kg from where I am now. Most of this will happen over summer, though, so I'm aiming for 75kg by the end of summer (being when the weather turns shit, not necessarily Feb 29)
To achieve this I will continue riding to work and do my walk up to Belair and back every day. How feasible these things will be in 40+ or when it's pissing with rain is yet to be seen. Re-evaluation will come when winter hits. For the moment tho, capitalise on summer. Also, only have chippies and chocolate at the appropriate occasions. Footy is an appropriate occasion; feeling like chippies is not.

Prepare to look for a house
This involves figuring out what I can realistically afford to live in, work out a budget, see where I should be at the end of the year and BE THERE. This year involved a lot of buying things. Next year won't.
To achieve this I will only buy the stuff on that list. Not that one, tempting tho it may be. The Wüsthofs probably won't happen, either.

    Have a design portfolio
This involves being an absolute Adobe pimp. Make InDesign (and to a lesser extent, Illustrator) my bitch as much as Photoshop is.
To achieve this I will create stuff! Work on that list people gave me and actually get some shit on the internet. At least one solid folio piece a month.

    Stuff To Save For

Because most of this is full of crosses, messy and lacking in several things, and it's Christmas shopping season new list! )

    My Plan:
o don't buy anything ('cept grudge purchases like lunch and petrol)
o make five grand (potentially, paycheck after my birthday)
o buy a thing (probably printer, maybe scanner as well, just as long as it doesn't take me under 5 grand. I'm sadly tempted by multifunctions.)
o make ten grand (potentially November)
o sell my half of Bruce (+$2000? ish? we'll work it out)

o buy the other things (unless it takes me below ten grand. Basically this will be servicing on Bruce for $700, a car that isn't Bruce for around $4-5k and things that go beep for prices ranging from $15 to $500)
    o move out! (January 16-17)
o make fifteen grand (crap knows when this will happen. Re-evaluation will happen a few months after moving out)
o SUMMER WARDROBE! (which isn't looking so derelict as winter's was earlier, but still, fun times)
    o COMMISSIONS!
o BAROSSA! Cos by this point it'll be early autumn and they'll be fermenting wine and eee~ love the Barossa.
    o make twenty grand
o ENGLAND! For a MONTH. Or however long my annual leave will give me, but we're aiming for a month here.

Omitted because they're already paid for:
    o POWDERFINGER~ (October eee omfg)
    o ASHES~ (November, eee!)

So basically, every 5 grand, spoil myself~ then treat that 5 grand spot like it's $0. And thus concludes my next year and a half. Let's see how we go. Step one: five grand.

    Today's to-do list:

o Go to supermarket and buy milk, orange juice and possibly bread. Check if we've got that first. Also take cash out.

o Pick up cat. Love on him for, like, an hour.

o Ring around about car mufflers

o Catch up on remaining Standards (LJ of the last day, links people should be giving me, dA and Y!, any webcomics I follow. God this will take hours).

o Pull all photos off camera.

o Code up part one: Club Med.

    o Unpack =/

I'm sure there was something else I meant to do. Eh, I'll think of it. Time to go shopping and pick up me little darlin' boi <3

edit~ OH YES. Download shit. Torchwood, 3x Fullmetal Alchemist, 3x Top Gear. Watch them and also Aussie TV from the last few weeks: 2x Good News Week, 2x Chaser and 2x Thank God You're Here. I believe Top Gear Australia finished for the season but can't be sure. Check on that, too.

This summer, I want to get at least TWO of these things done. All would be better. In order of priority:

o Finish Silent Harmony ~ Rust because it has about 45k left to write and that is so very doable.

o Learn Maya because there's a class next year that looks cool and uses it.

o Learn Painter because it creates cool real media effects.

o Learn Illustrator because vectors are useful and it's hopefully easier to figure out than its predecessor.

o Learn openCanvas... because... you installed it you nut.

Yay~ bloogum's no longer playing funny buggers. Fixed within the hour I sent the support ticket note thing <3

Top floor of the library has shiny new monitors, ooh, same size as mine at home =D Now if only they had Photoshop on them, then I could make use of the shiny.

D00d~ next week's the last week before mid-semester break. With any luck I'll have all my uni stuff caught up with by next Friday, so I can have a nice free first week of said break, and not need to think about uni at all in Melbourne.

List of DOOM for the next week and a half:

o 1500 word essay for Screen
.. Highlight and notetake the reading, get the main points figured out, write up an outline and do the essay.

o Make website for Intro to Creative Digital Media
.. Layout in Photoshop, code that up, throw all the content I've currently got at it and set up pages for the content I don't.

    o Log book for Art
.. Do the remaining few exercises, print off some digiart to stick in there and yack about, maybe flip through the Foxtel guide and see if there are any biographies on Monet or Renoir or any of them in the next few weeks. I dunno. Throw crap in there.

Mmm doomy. I still don't have a decent layout idea. Arg. I haven't even made new layouts for tpyo and bloogum in, like, a year. HRM.
