So, all through spring, we were warned of a 'long, hot summer'. And I mean ALL through spring. It's gonna be bad, people, real bad. Like, prepare your bushfire action plan by October bad. Check that your grandmother's aircon works and make sure she uses it bad.
When it got to early January and still summer hadn't started I was saying it'd have to last until about May to qualify for the 'long' part.
It started mid-January, when we were on fire for about a week, then it was mostly pleasant until Colin's wedding when it was 40 degrees for about two days, then it was pleasant again until now when it's suddenly and for no reason winter. I mean, it could be the edge of Cyclone Nathan, but this is cold rain, not tropical rain. There's bound to be more pleasant through autumn, but it's most certainly not summer anymore.
Two-ish months of mostly pleasant is not a 'long hot summer' to me =| I wanted more heat!
The bom does reckon we're in for another El NiƱo from next summer, though, so that's... less cool. Suspect most of the country will be on fire for a couple of years there.
On the plus side, I found vertical garden stuff :D Bedroom will come first but that won't take much time on my part, not like there's any drilling or furniture construction involved, so I'm looking at garden stuff now. I even have a frame already to hang them from! I was looking at them at work today wondering about the logistics of hanging these things up and having to build a frame for them, but no, already there :D Score! When it stops raining I'm going to go measure things and start making a Plan. I wonder if I can move the hot water service? It encroaches on things and ruins my aesthetic. All else fails, wrap another garden around it or something.
YAY GREEN.
