annarti: (I see you baby)
For a change, I don't have a million things to catch up on. Is this what it's like to be organised? omg.

Fitness continues, running and walking around the Parklands, and I've finally come around to the bits I'm familiar with along the Torrens, which is the river that runs through Adelaide. Well, 'runs,' it's just sitting there at the moment, there being no rain to make the river flow, but still, felt a whole lot more lush and green than any of the northern parklands did. I'm less than a month now from the date I'll be attempting my 5km in 35 minutes, and feeling pretty sweet about it. Assuming I hit that (and even if i don't, tbh, tho I'll be surprised at this stage if I don't) I'll set a new goal of 5km in half an hour probably by the end of winter, then finally jetty-to-jetty in an hour.

OH I didn't go into the rewards bit! Every 5 kilos I'm rewarding myself with a new set of clothing items. First goal is undies, next will be socks, then bras, then pjs, then the one after that'll be my final goal so that'll be the whole wardrobe. Not all at once, but anyway. Baby steps. I hit the first goal a couple of weeks ago, so new undies! In the last couple of years I've really started making a conscious effort to try and buy Australian made, or at least Australian owned, and definitely natural fibres. I've had this page bookmarked since last year, so I've now bought one pair from everyone there. I'll give 'em all a couple of months of wear, then whichever's holding up the best I'll get a full set of. Currently think I'm most keen on Merino Country (made from wool, very comfy, comes in green) and Wonderpants (extremely comfy, also green) so we'll see how they go. It's been so long since I got new undies, this is the best.

March is coming up to when the writing comps I've been entering start drawing the winners. So far one's contacted me to say I didn't win, but eh. Honestly not expecting to place in any of them, but it's fun to be part of. I'm finally getting to write a story about my pigment hunter, who I've had ideas about for ages, so having a good time with that one in particular. Hoping to finish it tomorrow, then I can go back and edit for submission.

ALSO CRICKET. NOBODY CARES. BUT. South Australia is in the Sheffield Shield final! The last time we won it was 29 years ago! Today was day two and we're doing very well, planning to go down on Saturday, which'll potentially be the last day, and cheer on the boys. omg that would be so amazing.

Okay, so, what in the high holy shit has LJ done to memories now? They don't appear to function. Previously it's been a list of keywords, click your keyword, and you get a list of entries in order of when they were added to the list of memories. Now though? I don't even know how this functions. Already you can see it's just posting the full entries, not links to the entries, which is GREAT for if you want to start from the beginning of the list (it's not).

Through that, for example, I challenge you to find the chapter I just posted, which is the prologue for Steel (I know, I'm excited, too 8D). It's under 'Silent Harmony Chapters', which makes sense, yeah? So you select that memory from the dropdown, sort entries by Order Added... and top of the list is Gold: Twenty-Five. Then comes Gold: Nineteen... Fifteen... Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Two... What the shit even. Maybe it's on the next page? Click Previous Page (I mean...) and it's General Nimay's Character Design. That's not even under the category of Silent Harmony Chapters. Neither is General Nimay in the Big Book of Stuff. The next post by giraffe_warrior isn't even in the yrae journal. So it's at that point that I gave up and came here to bitch.

I'm just going to have to make a new post with the list of chapters and update that periodically, because this is ri-goddamn-diculous.

On the plus side, I wrote a prologue! I may even have an actual full chapter before Cassie gets here and then NaNoWriMo starts the week after. That'd be cool. Wouldn't that be cool? Hell yeah.

I also bought pjs. On Wednesday, the pair of pants that'd gotten a hole in the knee at the beginning of the week gave up the ghost, and by morning the hole reached all the way from ankle to hip, because this is how holes in flannelette pjs go. So I chucked them out, put on my other pair of flannelette pants on Thursday night, and as soon as I sat down they split right up the arse. So that's the story of how I lost two pairs of pj pants in two days. I used the last of my Myer voucher to get two pairs of silk pjs, mostly because I'm sick of how flannelette barely lasts a year and I'm hoping silk will last longer. We'll see. One pair is black and hella comfortable, and the other is black with flowers and also hella comfortable. I feel swanky.

annarti: (see it's like this...)
Ah no, I missed a week! Balls. Oh well. Maybe things'll start quietening down and I'll have more time to update and less to update about. HAH.

So I have glasses now! These are them, along with my new jumpsuit and lippy I bought over summer hollies. I love it all. Forever amazed by how much of a difference a hot red lippy does. Loev.

I've had the most minor, pathetic excuse for a cold the last few days, but it mostly hit last night. Nothing much in the way of sneezing, coughing or snotting, but I got the whole stupidly tired and heavy, not wanting to do anything part. Went to bed early and woke up feeling a million times better, so. That's the end of that. I also donated blood on Monday after work, so whether that had anything to do with it idk, but I've never had anything happen after a blood donation before. Hopefully I wasn't contagious when I donated =x

Australia Day was last Friday, which usually means a big barbecue at Mum and Dad's, but this year was forecast to be 42 degrees so they cancelled it. We still ended up doing a little thing, just the five of us plus my aunt and uncle to watch the cricket with, and in the end it barely got to 33, so. It would've been perfect, sadly. BUT it did mean I got to meet Snags! Colin and Laura's new little dachschund. Such a little sweetie~ with his huge floppy ears and big eyes. And his little legs, powering along making SO much effort and getting nowhere fast <3 He's adorable.

Much awesome food has been eaten, and much is yet to come. I've been back to New Nordic with Linda and Hanh, followed by insane dessert up the road at 50sixone, and then through this week Mum's invited me up twice for amazing seafood salads, one with seared sushi-grade tuna and one with prawns and salmon.

Tomorrow I'm going to the first AFL Women's match for the season with Mum, so, go Crows! Then on Sunday is Japanese fusion high tea with Linda at Ginza Miyako. I'm so glad all my friends are foodies. I've also very easily convinced her and Hanh to come with me to Fred's up at Aldgate, so that'll likely happen next weekend, I'd guess. So many awesome, disgustingly hipster cafés and restaurants now. I love Adelaide!

I went shopping! My feet hurt but I saved lots of money. I got this coat and this jumper from Porties, who had 25% off coats and knitwear, so that was cool :D The coat has copper buttons! And is also more of a pinkish-beige rather than the pristine cream of the photo which I would never buy because I couldn't maintain that before leaving the house. But the pinky-beige is gorgeous and I love it. Also the jumper is SO WARM it's awesome. I was roasting while I was trying it on. Love.

Then got this stick-whiz and this pot from Myer, who had 60% off the former, making it $70, and 50% off the latter so that was $145. AND I had money left on the Myer gift voucher I got for my Christmas bonus, so I only spent about 50 of my own dollars to get about $500 worth of stuff. Hell to the yeah. I'm gonna make so much soup with those babies.

I also got a box in kraft brown for my lettering supplies. It wasn't on special. Aww.

I am now set for winter, with my new warm clothes and soup-making stuff. And a box. YAY!

OH AND! I got stuff organised for the garden! Concrete base for the tank will be laid on Tuesday morning, then the guy coming to clear all the crap away comes on the 27th, and the tank itself gets installed on the 10th of May. THEN GREEN! Cover the ground in dirt and cover the dirt with baby's tears and cover the galvanised iron fence with vertical garden and train jasmine up the soon-to-be-fixed frame and have jasmine scent blowing into my studio and it'll be AWESOME. I meant to do this in spring 8D Oh well, it'll be established come next summer.

YEAH PROGRESS.

annarti: (see it's like this...)
It's rained the last three weekends in a row and I'm running out of socks, so I finally bit the bullet and did the washing today in the vain hope that SOME day this week, it'll get enough sun to dry out. It's been rained on at least twice today. Yay winter.

I bought my dress for Quay! It is this one ) from Veronika Maine but it's not on their website anymore, so can't properly link it. I didn't get the statement necklace because my favourite shop isn't open on Sundays, apparently. News to me. So I'll go in after work on Friday and get something then. Something like this maybe. Oh or this or that. I just love this shop. I can browse it for ages *.*

Thoughts on packing:

I have a lot of jeans. Nine pairs, and a pair of denim shorts. I really need a pair of trackie dacks.

annarti: (harden the fuic up)
SUCKED IN, AMERICA. I'm going to buy shit online, oh yeah >D

I really don't update much these days. Hrm. Must rectify that.

Last weekend was the official start of summer, as marked by 28 degrees (on Monday, but still) and, more poignantly, fish and chips from Normanville with Anna P on the beach. Course, it's currently drizzling and about 12 degrees as it's been for the past three days, but that's spring for you. It never actually DOES spring. Mostly, it's winter, then you get about three days of spring some time around mid-November, then BOOM it's 35 and summer.

But yeah, the beach was lovely~ <3 Supposed to be fining up this week, so we'll see how next weekend goes.

Tonight I have a little black dress masquerade party, so that'll be awesome :D I bought a mask last week (it has peacock feathers on it and it's green, would you expect any less?) and a little black dress yesterday. Personal opinion, it's too short to be a dress, so I'm wearing a skirt, too. There will be cam whoring.

Annnnd stuff. Yeah I don't have much goss lately.

OH. I've been reading this, which was in my massive box of books from the Shanrie <3 It's beautiful~ and I love it a lot.

And that's all I've got. I'm going to draw now :D

annarti: (now the rubberband is on the other claw!)
I RETURN VICTORIOUS. I have bought:

Cream jumper
Blue jeans
Black jeans
Big fluffy turquoise jumper
Cream sort of... thin cardigany thing but it was effectively free, so why not? It's cute.
Purple nice top thing to go with thin cardigany thing to make it warmer :D
Fluffy red and purple scarf
Nice black shoes
Nice khaki shoes
Tan boots
A necklace with big chunky cream/gold/tan beads
A necklace with smaller cream/gold/tan beads

ALL THIS for $326.74 :DD The jeans were $15 each (love JayJays) as was the big fluffy turqouise jumper, so that brought me to $45 at JayJays which meant $5 off :D AND if you spent $50 it was $10 off, so I dove on the "Everything $5!" table and found the thin cardigany thing, hence effectively free.

I FEEL ACCOMPLISHED. This is slowly getting crossed off, yay <3 Didn't get any generic bumming around the house clothes (namely the trackies and long-sleeved tops) because THERE WEREN'T ANY. Trackies have to be at least $25 which is a bit stupid really. Even at Target =/ Trackies are not high fashion, where the hell do you get them for less than $10?

Anyway yes. Day well spent :D

annarti: (squee!)
So, we have a new PM. Don't really care, didn't vote for Krudd and sure as hell not voting for her, either :D With any luck, she'll be the shortest-serving PM in Australian history.

In other, more exciting news, Colin's birthday was yesterday, so I took him out to lunch. Huuuuuge bowl of Vietnamese soup, very noice X9 Followed by duck Windy Point style for dinner, homg. So delicious. I love my Mum <3

Also~ I bought a terrabyte external hard drive, so I can put all my movies and tv shows on that now. This'll be my project for the evening, then over the weekend I might see about getting Windows 7 on this computer. I've got it on the laptop, and it's on the computers at work, so I may as well. Also gives me the excuse to get Adobe CS5 8D Mmm, tasty.

This comes because I got my first pay check this week :DDDDDD SO EXCITING. Going clothes shopping this weekend cos my winter wardrobe is seriously depleted. All but one pair of jeans have holes in them, as do various tops, undies and socks. And I only have two pairs of pjs left. So yes, mmm money.

annarti: (ca'rn the crows!)
Today has been AWESOME. We won the footy~! Against Freo! Who are, like, a top-four side! My boys~ <3 They played so brilliantly today. SO many passages of play that made us go "ooh, that was good >D" and they were accurate, in goal kicking as well as kicking to other players, they were just fabulous. The Crows of old (re: last year) back again :DD Why they haven't been playing like this for the last four months, we don't know. They have SO very picked themselves up, but alas, too little too late. Still have to win just about every game from here on in to even make the eight, alas.

Freo was lovely, though. They all lined up to shake Tyson Edwards' hand after the game, cos he's retired after 16 years with the Crows. So that was nice of them =3

And the crowd was cheering~ and chanting ADELAIDE and clapping and we sang the Crows song afterwards completely out of time with what was coming over the PA but we didn't care because we sung it with GUSTO and couldn't even hear the PA and omg it was awesome. I love my boys. They're actually playing awesome footy now! There were three quarters of awesome last week and then they sort of lay down like doormats and were comprehensively thrashed, but this week? Four full quarters of awesome. Well, three and a bit. Third quarter was ordinary, but so was Freo so that was okay.

... </footy>

Then Anna P and I went to have dinner at Glenelg in celebration of the Crows' win and also my getting a job, so we got pasta and walked along the beach. It was... fresh :D;;; Pommies would thumb their noses at us but screw you. Nice walk, actually, and we had our Crows scarves proudly displayed so it wasn't so bad. People shouted GO CROWS! at us a coupla times X3

OH. And I got blueeyedboy :DDDD Mmmmmm Joanne Harris book <3 I've been craving one. Yes, I got Runemarks and The Evil Seed earlier this year, but Runemarks is for young adults and The Evil Seed was her first published book from about 20 years ago and she's completely changed style since then. So yes. NEW BOOK mmmmmm <3

And tomorrow Mum's taking me clothes shopping to get a work outfit, as a congratulations from her and Dad *^^* I don't know if this includes shoes or not. I get the impression it does, but I'm not pushing it. If not I'll buy shoes for me anyway, cos I need some.

I said back in January, or possibly earlier, even: 2010 is my year. THIS is the week where that's been ringing true. EVERYTHING IS AWESOME.

And now for something completely different, an actual update =0

On Tuesday~ I did some sending of emails to various printing companies around Adelaide in search of a job. One got back to me yesterday to set up an interview for next Tuesday :D Just to clarify, these places don't only do printing, but designing and desktop publishing type stuff, too, so yay! Cross fingers for something to happen there~

After playing some of my new and shiny Pokémon Platinum on the DS, I was inspired to get out my little old Crystal version on GBC, only to find that the entire game has wiped itself. This would ordinarily be pretty annoying but oh well, get to play through it again, get over it etc. But no. That was the game that had my Mew on it. MY MEW D: I'm never going to get another one of them! I queued up in the Myer Centre, a 15-year-old girl in a line of under-ten-year-old-boys, to get that bloody Mew, and now it's GONE~ forever. I know, nobody owns a GBC anymore for me to play them with, but STILL. MEW. Not a happy 'Narti, no.

Dad's buggered his back =( In a can't get out of bed kind of way. This is doubly suckage because it's his birthday tomorrow, and he and Mum were going out to a sexy restaurant tonight for dinner. Course, the bonus of having three doctors, a nurse and a physio in the family is that he's had plenty of the right kind of advice to get himself fixed. Still. No sexy restaurant =( Not that Colin or I were ever going, but still sad.

I just tore a hole in my jeans. Goddamnit. I LIKE these jeans >< And I've only had 'em a year. I NEED INCOME.

For all the new people who've arrived on my flist over the last month or less, I feel I should pimp [livejournal.com profile] h_bee and [livejournal.com profile] yrae, my arts and writings journals respectively. HB is completely open, yrae comm is MOSTLY open except for Silent Harmony, you'll have to join the community to read that, but I don't bite =3

And on that note, I'm going to write. Possibly. See if drawing distracts me again. It's been doing that lately X3

annarti: (its a fuic or its nothing)
There, Malaysia photos all resized, numbered and uploaded. Two batches of KL and one of Singapore to babble about, then all... three pictures or however many I took of the Gold Coast trip, and I'm CAUGHT UP on holiday snaps. Just in time for Sydney, as planned X3

Money not yet gone through to Visa, so the online bit of Christmas shopping will have to wait til tomorrow, but the legwork bit of it is DONE~ :DD It's all sitting in a pile in the corner of my room waiting to be wrapped. Also got my jeans, boardies and work pants sitting there. The jeans~ now have a pattern on them based on Riesling's there, done in shiny fabric paint, and since it's going to be low 20s again tomorrow, I'll wear them to take piccies of =3 I really should do a camera cleanout, now I think of it. Finish off holiday snaps first, then I'll do that. Hoi~ >>

I want iced coffee, but we're all out of flavouring =/ Tomorrow this must be rectified.

CRICKET THIS WEEKEND EEEEEE!
