We was robbed =( The umpires sucked and gave away free kicks that shouldn't have been that stole goals from us and others that gave goals to them and we lost by THREE POINTS and seriously screw biased umpires. Even the commentators couldn't explain what the hell certain free kicks were for. I mean, I wasn't expecting us to win--it was the Hawks, at the G, after a hellishly exhausting game last weekend against Sydney--but to come so close to winning a game like that? And have it robbed by the umpires? REALLY HURTS.

SO ANYWAY. I have the slab laid for my new tank :D Then the crap all gets removed on Wednesday and then GREEN. And GARDEN!

Artists like those make me wish I could do landscapes properly. Like, actually create them from my mind. I can halfarse it and copy a photo well enough, but actually creating a landscape is really freaking hard. Especially forests. It's why Raykin is a flat sodding desert, Llayad is savannah with rolling and largely unpopulated hills, Tsayth is an even flatter sodding desert and I've never drawn Kazin. I WISH I COULD. I have started on so many vague attempts, but they've all ended at the draw the vanishing point stage, maybe with one or two generic blocks to represent buildings, or some random sketchy up-and-down lines that were planned to be trees but SCREW THAT, TO THE TOO HARD BASKET WITH YOU.

I know exactly what all these places look like. I swear I can picture the damned vanishing point and cracked paint on the walls and moss growing over the roof and lime tree in a pot and lines of olive trees but I'll be buggered if I can show it to other people.

I'll just... stick with words. SIGH.

OMG LJ COMMENTS. HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU. That makes up for Facebook. But my god, I swear if that thing's not sorted in a week I'm deleting it.

Entirely unrelated, I'm doing this. I have my list of a hundred, many of whom have never been drawn or even been given character, but I feel I should know what they look like. As much a project in character design as drawing who I already know in my head. Only about a dozen have been drawn in my new-ish line-less style. The Own especially I'm looking forward to.

askdjghal Photoshop is being so irritating lately >< So ridiculously laggy and painful. Yes, I'm working on a pretty big file (171 megs of frankly stunning rainforest) but Cocktail Hour was over 250 megs and had no serious issues like this is.

I'd give you a WIP but I've split it into two files now, background in one and girl in the other. Girl file is now only about 13 megs AND IT CAN STILL BARELY COPE. What's happened between us, Photoshop? We used to be mates =(

o Welcomed cousin back to Australia from the UK! She's only here for Christmas til she goes back again for New Year, aww. Big Christmas-esque lunch with her and family, followed by the most epic game of backyard cricket we've had in YEARS. Mostly we just sorta halfarse it out of tradition. No idea what made it go for an hour this time XD

o You're not the only ones who can do snow in December, bitches. DIDN'T I TELL YOU IT WAS COLD? I THINK I DID.

o Graduation was boring as all hell, I was number 29 of about 300 who walked across the stage of the Convention Centre to accept my degree. It took two hours o/ But then we went out to lunch after, which was lovely~ and tasty~ but not as good as Alphutte, where we WANTED to go but they were full.

o It's supposed to be 34 on Christmas Day. I'm dubious.

o Official move-out date is now officially 15-16 January. It was going to be this weekend, but then engagements cropped up to postpone it. Either way, Anna P's current housemate is moving out first week of January, so I'll move in the second weekend :D

o Work Christmas dinner was last weekend! Man that was fun. Jan got us balloons and we had a balloon animal/hat competition. It was unanimously decided that my 'lion' looked more like a poodle with haemorrhoids.

o We actually won a cricket match! Like, a real one, not backyard cricket! I wish we could've had that match here. Day three of the Perth Test was so much more epic than the day three at Adelaide that we went to =(

LOOK WHAT I GOT :DDDDD I'm hoping to get commissions of Ackerley from all my favourite artists, the fun part being that Ackerley has no physical description in the story, so they're left to interpret him as they will. So yes. Rynnay is number two, the first being Ku :D It amuses me that they both gave him much the same hair, right down to the curly underneath and combed out top XD

What you can't see in the web-sized version? TEXTURE. Holy crap the texture on this thing, omg. Fluffy moss and rough bark and grainy stone and fragile, papery dragon wings and sparkly dragon scales and rough boot leather and omg it's brilliant. If you have the monies to spare, I highly, highly recommend this girl. HEE.

Screw you, Yan, and your bloody massive wings. Or should that be 'screw you, self, and your recent desire for texture on flat surfaces'?

I have finished all but one of my Christmas gift piccies :D Just Shanrie's to go, who I will unfortunately have to ask about because I can't even find her story anymore, let alone any references/descriptions of the characters. 'Small girl with brown hair' or 'tall man with black hair' just isn't enough to work from, and taking the GW character route is just cheaping out. So yes. Need me a Shanra *nods*

Wednesday was another beach day due to roughly 40 degree weather :D Watered the garden at her place first, got some cheap iced coffee and ended up at the beach around 4pm when it had started to cool down a bit. The real change came just as we'd finished our fish and chips for dinner, in the form of thunder and lightning that kept going all the way home, too 8D There's one spot on the road where you can see all the way out north of the city, out into the gulf and up to the Hills, and there was lightning everywhere~ it was FABULOUS. Lightning is so much fun <3 Course, temperature dropped about 25 degrees for Thursday, because apparently that's how Adelaide wants to roll this summer.

Tomorrow night I have a 21st to go to.
Sunday is nothing.
Monday I'll have to run by Anna P but hopefully that'll be Christmas shopping with her followed by Gran coming up for dinner. It's quail. I'm not missing that =0
Tuesday go down to Victor with Anna P to see what, if anything, she'd like from Nanna's, and also go to the beach.
Wednesday, come home from Victor, possibly via McLaren Vale for lunch.
Thursday... go back down to Victor, this time with family for Christmas Eve festivities :DD

Saturday, back to Adelaide for day one of the Boxing Day Test with Anna P~
Sunday, TAKE PLANE TO SYDNEY EEEE.
