I feel like ranting. Yay! =D

Dunno if you've noticed this or not, but Australia gets damn near every movie much later than the rest of the world. Only movies we get before anyone else are the ones that are made here, by Aussies.

The Matrix (the original one, that was good) was released in the States before here, and it was filmed entirely in Sydney.

Pirates of the Caribbean had it's premiere in America in June this year, we didn't get it until well into September. I wanted the DVD for Christmas obviously, but couldn't get it because it's not out yet. It's been out for a while in at least England and Canada, but it's not going to hit Aussie shelves until March/April-ish.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, as you well know from my previous rants, is released in Israel, Costa Rica and Guatemala before it's released here. That I can sorta understand: the rivalry between us and the Kiwis is much like that between the US and Canada. But that's not the point.

Name me one single international movie that Australia has gotten with the rest of the world, that wasn't a World Wide Release thingo (one that's released everywhere in the world on the same day). Anything. Moulin Rouge doesn't count cause that's Aussie. Wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the world got that before us too tho. *checks* There you go, released here 6 days after the US. The lead actress is Aussie. The director is Aussie. The freaking production is Aussie and we still didn't get it before the US.

Why the hell do we get everything so much later than the rest of the world? It does not take three months to get a reel of film from America to Australia. Likewise, it does not take a week and a half to get one here from Kiwiland when it takes barely a day to get one to Pommyland. We're the third largest English speaking country in the world, just because we're on the edge of the Pacific and below Asia doesn't mean we should be bloody isolated from everything.

Music stars come here and play in Sydney, Melbourne if you're lucky, then bugger off to Hawaii or wherever. Kylie Minogue, who is supposedly Aussie (she's a Pom as far as I'm concerned), 'toured' Australia and did Sydney and Melbourne. Weather maps on international news list Sydney, Melbourne and maybe Perth if they're educated. News to you: there is one helluva big difference between Melboune weather and Adelaide weather. It's like comparing London weather and, I dunno, Marseilles (that's in the south of France) weather, or comparing Chicago weather to the weather in Miami. Well, not quite that dramatic, but you get the idea.

I've gone off track, but I don't give a stuff. I'm just sick of Australia being seen as so damn isolated. Yes, you can travel 4000-odd ks and still have people that speak pretty much the same accent around you, yes we're the only country that's also a continent, yes most of said continent is desert, no we're not physically attached to any other continents, but we're not so bloody isolated that music artists should visit one city then bugger off, or not even that. We're not so isolated that it takes THREE to FOUR MONTHS for a DVD to get here from Pommyland or the US. That's a quarter to a third of a YEAR. If I had a credit card I'd just order the damn thing rather than wait for it to be released here.

Americans and Pommies on my friends page will have no idea what I'm talking about. Canadians might, but you still get stuff before we do. I'm sure music artists would be able to pop up there as time off from their American tours. Australia? They can't be stuffed with an extra three or four hours on a plane, or another half to get from Sinny to Adelaide, hell no.

I don't even know where this rant's going anymore. I think I'll stop right there XD;; I can see me launching into another stereotypes rant or something .-.;;

*skips to bed instead*
