Mon, Jan. 17th, 2005 08:28 pmMy parental units are nuts =D They've both been stressing over Colin's uni preferences and whether he'd get in or not. For IT last year, the TER cutoff was about eight points lower than what Col got. Three points is a massive jump from one year to the next, let alone eight. So yus, naturally got in. Parentals were absolutely ecstatic, as though there was maybe point eight points separating last year's TER and Col's. Honestly 9.9 Parents are odd, unreasonably stressy creatures. Good on 'im, but really XD;
Also~ he's borrowed an electric guitar from Lucy's brother after the party yesterday. It's sexy X) And apparently you can get a pretty good one for $500-ish. Whether that's new, second hand, including the amp and all that, I dunno, but yeah. Hoping the brother unit gets one now, cos damnit it's COOL.

Mon, Jan. 17th, 2005 12:10 amWent to Lucy's leaving home party thingo today, cos she's moving to Sinny =0 I had to leave early tho to go to work, which was almost completely dead. Two tables and maybe... ten takeaways, total? DEAD.
So, 8:15, Billy got me to take in the sign and outside tables, and just~ as I was staking the chairs, he came out and said a table for six was coming at 8:30. Kinda had mixed feelings of "woo~ more dolars =D" and "bugga, can't go home yet." Cos generally~ the larger tables (as in, over four people) tend to stay for around two hours (or $24 in my language X)
8:30, I'm halfway through drying cutlery, hear a car door bang, dump cutlery, turn around... and it's the bloody family unit plus Lucy's family unit XD;;;;; My first thought was naturally "You're~ bloody KIDDING me .-.;;;" To their credit tho, they were finished by 10:30, so no longer than what the average table for six would've been. Colin had a great time tho XD; Ordered the bbq duck just to spite me XP I was half-expecting him to go for the Mongolian lamb, cos I've complained about the spitting fat on that thing before. It's seriously painful, cos it's on a sizzling platter.
Also~ I got my tip packet tonight =D See, all the tips for the year accumulate in the tip tin, then Billy divides it up among us and the chefs according to how many hours we've done over the year, and apparently, even tho I've only been there since Juneish, I've worked just about as many hours as the other girls. Rock X) So yus, ended up with $49.15 from the tip tin, $19.15 in CHANGE, plus ten Kiwi cents >< Who's so weak that they tip with Kiwi currency?
Dunno that this'd really happen anywhere else, but the number of 20 cent pieces you see with a kiwi on them instead of a platypus, or ten cent pieces with a Maori mask instead of a lyrebird... it's ridiculous. Kiwis come over here and use their own coinage, which is of course worth less than ours, so they're actually spending less than they should be. It's easy to get rid of them again, since they're pretty much the same as Aussie coins, so cashiers don't notice, but the crucial thing is that vending machines won't accept them. I dunno what it is about them, but stick a Kiwi coin in an Aussie vending machine and it'll just go straight through.
At least their dollar coins are different sizes to ours tho, cos that'd be really pissy.
Still, almost $50 in tips X)~
Really tho, who tips in Kiwi money? Cheapskates. ¬¬
