So, I went to bed when I did that last post, and now I've woken up. Mmm~ 14 and a half hours sleep~~~ X)~
It's strange, for the whole flight from Singapore I was completely dead, but still unable to sleep, but then as soon as the wheels touched down in Adelaide, I was awake again. Go figure.
So~ yeah. It was dark the whole time I was flying over Indonesia, which is a pity cos I like seeing all the volcanoes poking out from the clouds. The sun rose again about middle of WA, which was absolutely gorgeous to watch ^^ And then~ flying over the Eyre Peninsula I couldn't help grinning madly and then crying again XD; It's full of patchwork farms, which reminds me of flying over England again, but it's completely flat and very, very brown X3; I tried to take piccies, but I think they focussed on the glass instead of the outside. Still, I'll see if I can get them uploaded.
When I landed I did the obligatory "ooh~" at the new and shiny airport, which is a helluva lot smaller than any of the four I've just gone through, but still a helluva lot bigger than the little old one, which is essentially a shed. It had two forks from the check-in desk--one leading to the coffee shop and one to the planes, so it was impossible to get lost in. I think you'd have a hard time getting lost in the new one too, but whatever.
Saw Donald Rumsfeld's entourage leaving the airport as the plane was taxiing around. There was a big plane with a US flag on the tail and United States of America written on the side, and a parade of several black four-wheel-drives, so that made me go "ooh, someone important." They've apparently closed off half the streets in Adelaide too, which I think is going just a bit too far.
Anyway, airport. It's so SHINY and very very white Oo No more walking across the tarmac for 'narti =0 Instead we get a glass tube so we can see into the departure lounge, where my dear family unit was waiting and waving at me =DD
Then into Immigration, which is very white and with very obviuosly new carpet, and has maybe 10 desks to go through =0 Most are for international passports, but there were two desks just for Aussie passports, which made life easier. It took five minutes to get through Immigration. Fantastic.
Baggage was a different matter. Down some stairs and into another huge~ white room with new carpet, and the baggage carousel, which is the only bit that looks like it's been used. Stickers stuck to the flappy bits, marks on the conveyor bit. It took forever for my bag, but that was because it would've been put on first, since I was in transit in Singapore. Got them sniffed by the little beagle, felt like scratching said beagle behind the ears but restraned myself, then moved onto the next bit.
Customs I didn't really need to worry about, noting to declare, but what I saw of it was HUGE. I swear, half of the bottom floor must've been taken up by the quarrentine thingies. That used to always be the absolute nightmare of coming into Adelaide. Half the plane being forced through three desks, open up your bag, fish around in it for half an hour, show them your piece of wood or shells or whatever, then move onto the next person and do it all again. Now, there must be at least 20 desks. Almost felt like declaring something to see how fast it was X); *sad*
So yeah, skipped Quarrenitne, came out into the open and got smothered by the family unit plus Gran, yay =D No K8 tho *shakes fist* I was going to just shake my brother's hand, cos he's not really the public display of affection type, but he hugged me instead, so that was nice *^^*
Step outside and YAY! WARMTH! Only about 10am by this point, but the pilot had said it was 25 when we landed, so it was probably a few degrees higher by the time I left the terminal. Mmm~ summer <3
Dropped Gran off at home, arrived home, turned on the cricket (<3 <3 <3 <3) dished out presents (which family unit all loved. Score!), had lunch and went to bed at 1:30. I told them to wake me up for dinner, but nobody did, so I slept until 4am. Nice~
So anyway. Got up 9am Pommy time, then bed at 3am two days later... 42 hours. Hee, 8 by 9 X) *shuts up*
Now~ I dunno what I'll do. I should really go back to bed and try and fix my sleeping pattern, get it back to running on Adelaide time, but~ Sallie's online, so screw that =D
