Sat, Jul. 1st, 2006 06:54 pmOh yeah, Mum was watching the Hitchhiker's Guide movie today, so I sat down to watch the last half hour or so. Mum reckons it started off well, stayed true to the series, then just went whacked not long before I came in.
(Note: This whole post will make NO sense to those who haven't seen the original BBC series of this. It'll just be a whole post of "What the hell is 'narti on?")
Zaphod is WRONG with only one head and two arms. Marvin should NOT be chibi. They started putting in random scenes that had nothing to do with the rest of the movie, only delayed their arrival on Magrathea, and then they cut it off before they got to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe anyway. Slartibartfast was also not Slartibartfast. I mean, he had the exact lines as the original, but he was just wrong .-.
And they took Marvin with them from Magrathea! He's supposed to stay there for a few million years and becopme the car park attendant for that rock concert, then he saves them from the ship crashing into the sun. How's he supposed to save them if he comes with them? Grah.
And Deep Thought was female. And ditzy. More like female!Holly than Deep Thought. Ugh.
And of course they never got to find out the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. The only question Arthur was interested in was, "Is Trillian the one for me? And the answer to that is most certainly not 42." Fuh?
Just... arg *flails arms* The only decent bit I saw was the whale and the bowl of petunias, and that was only because it was almost exactly the same as the original, complete with dodgy budget-80s-BBC-esque whale. In which case, why bother with the movie?
So yeah. All in all, I was as unimpressed with the thing as expected.
Slartibartfast~~~ ;____;
