Thu, Nov. 23rd, 2006 08:36 pmMmmm~ good day's cricket. I'm happy X3 'cept that Langer didn't get his century =( He looked so pissed off with himself when he got out =(
Also, Gran's being here for dinner reminded me of something Col and I found out when she was up here last month. We've always known that ST Gill, a relatively famous artist who drew and painted a lot during the goldrush, is our great-something-uncle-possibly. Some sort of relation, anyway. Knew this cos Gran's got an ST Gill original at home and she told us about him.
Pretty cool, we thought =D My art teachers at school were most impressed.
Anyway, last time Gran was up here, we found out that Govenor Hindmarsh, first govenor of South Australia and the bloke who told Colonel Light to go find a good spot to stick Adelaide, is our great-great-grandfather. Hindmarsh Square in the city, Hindmarsh Island at the mouth of the Murray River, BIG place names in SA, named after Govenor Hindmarsh. He's, like, the biggest name in the state's history. Why the hell I've only found out at age 21 that he's my great-great-grandfather, hell knows. Colin and I were just staring at Dad and Gran going "......WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US THIS BEFORE?" That woulda been hella bragging rights at school, but alas, my grandmother clearly doesn't care squat about history =P
SO HAH. NOT A CONVICT *raspberries*
