The questions )

2. How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?

...Frig I don't know. More than three. Let's just count the active, relatively recurring ones.
Tsaythis x1 (and two with names and no characters, but I'll say one for now)
Llayans x5 (plus various royals with no character as yet, and a whole lot of one-shots)
Kazinians x8 (plus side-characters from Bouquet who aren't being counted)
Raykinians x60? (roughly? The Own + families make up half of that, ten healers, Yan's family of 5, the desert group of... 12-ish, random locals like Kal the barman, Haoi the king's advisor, Laeron the sword master... yeah let's say an even 60 there)

Pirates x4 (I think. Equinox, Desert Pea, Lagoon, Thiras is already counted as the Tsaythi... OH GOD WHO AM I MISSING THERE'S ANOTHER ONE. COFFEE there we go.)
Muses x12

I'm~ going to be safe and call it more than a hundred. Varying stages of (non-)development and (non-)exposure, but they're still there and potentially affect other, more-developed characters around them, so~ those are the ones that count! And that's not even the inactive ones, like the old Pokémon and Emerald Feather's cat people. But they were all crappy, one-dimensional characters so they don't count. I like making characters and then doing virtually nothing with them :D;;;

NEXT QUESTION I dunno. I don't really have a preference either way. I do love writing the Own most, because of their camaraderie and rivalries (friendly or no) but that's because they're just the most well-developed group of characters, not because they're blokes. If I were to rank my favourite, say, 20 characters, it'd probably be half-half with guys and girls. I just like making interesting characters, rather than basing everything on gender.

... That said, the main characters/'narrators' of my stories are~ almost exclusively female. Make of that what you will XD

Writing Meme Day 1

Handed to me by Sallie~ because everyone loves a good writing meme. Yes, you do. Shush. 31 questions to answer over the course of a month, wai :D

the questions )

1. Tell us about your favourite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with and why.

Yrae Chronicles/Tsyllaes! As if that wasn't bloody obvious. In the past there's also been Pokémon fanfic, random element girls that lasted two chapters, Emerald Feather (cat girl in the jungle. With swords and magic. Duh.) annnnd that's it? I think? Also have a couple of pirates with Sallie, and some other random characters that don't fit anywhere but float around anyway and who I've rarely/never actually written, and~ the slowly in development Kayani. They're possibly part of Tsyllaes. Maybe. I don't know.

Yrae Chronicles has been the one to stick around, though, because it's the first actual world I've had to play in that's completely mine. I started out, as so many did, with Pokémon, then took my first steps into original fiction with the random element girls. They were real world with magic, so~ still not a lot of originality. Or plot. Or anything. They didn't last long. I wanted something that was all mine, where I could write little snippets that had no real part of anything, but where I knew what was going on, so in came EF. That was just a little island, though. No settlements and not really a lot of culture, still not enough room to move around.

Then along came Tsyllaes. A whole world with history and culture and people and relations and different kingdoms. It had humble beginnings, being little more than ancient Egypt without the pyramids, but Raykin I think is its own kingdom now. And it's FUN. I love writing Raykin, and I've got a full handle on Kazin, now, too. Ask me anything about Raykin and I can answer it. Ask me about Kazin and I know enough about it that I can BS an answer that will most likely stick. Llayad and Tsayth... less so, but they'll get there in time.

I just love this world to teeny tiny little pieces. It's been growing since early year 12 (2003) when I was 17, and since then I've overtaken the twins (who are 20), which was weird but not entirely unexpected, and Nol (who is 23), which is REALLY weird. He was five years older than me when I made him. He should be turning 30 this year D:

... Anyway yes. Tsyllaes will only get bigger. Can't see myself abandoning this place ever <3
