The Federal Government has distributed $500m for a Building Better University Fund to be used for capital works. Flinders University has allocated $2.7m of their funding towards the upgrading of the Refectory, in particular around food service, delivery and student amenities.
The works will commence Monday 27th July, 2009 and are expected to be completed late January 2010. Specifically an entire new kitchen and food service areas will be constructed, the refectory eating spaces will be upgraded and extended to include more natural light, and a Club Lounge Bar space will be created to replace the aging and poorly situated Tavern.
Ooooooooooh. Maybe I'll end up actually eating there next year, then. OMG MY UNI'S DOING SOMETHING FOR ME. Assuming the VSU is scrapped (I haven't gotten any compulsory fees as yet, which is odd cos I thought they were scrapping the VSU this year) then I'm going to pretend that's where my fees are going.
