Thu, Jan. 13th, 2005 02:50 amJust because everyone else is rambling about various video game exploits: Bloody Renauld had me sending my poor marmelukes (sp?) wandering around the desert for seriously an hour before he finally realised that hey, he's got nothing left but a few ships, and gave up XP I'd raided every building of importance, nothing standing but houses, mining/logging camps and a mill, none of which can create any people, and he felt it'd be fun to just let me roam the freaking desert for an hour. I had that game won in half an hour and he makes me wander for another one for NO REASON. Dodgy AI ¬¬
Means it's now 3~ in the morning instead of 2, and anything I try writing will be oh so much crap. Still, I have an idea, so I may as well use it then go to bed.
But first~ funky stuff =D
You all know how I'm going to Pommyland in October, yus? Well~ the parental units have come up with the idea that, since it's going to cost so much to go, I may as well stay longer than just the two weeks of mid-semester break. Longer, as in, the full semester. Honestly? The idea had never occured to me, but now it's been brought up, that would be SO MANY KINDS OF COOL.
Uni? Either put it off for a semester (this would hardly be the first time someone's taken a semester off to go work in Pommyland, so they'd know how to deal with it) or~ do that semester in Pommyland. Dunno how exactly that'd work--Dad just reckons you can do bits of your degree overseas and have it count towards an Aussie degree. Obviously tho, no HECS. I'd have to pay up-front rather than when I get a job at the end of the degree, like I do here. And~ for international students it'd be more than... not-international. Local, I guess. Uni's always more expensive here for international students, so logically it would be in Pommyland too. How much more, I have no~ idea. This is all just speculation at the mo.
Semester here is about $2500 if I remember correctly, so going by what Dad and I figure about Pommy Prices of Stuff, that'd be around £2500. For a Pommy, not an Aussie. That's already bloody expensive. Still, must look into that kind of stuff. Maybe. I'm still liking the idea more of taking a semester off and working there instead. Either way, doing a uni semester there is going to be more expensive than here, plus there's no HECS. I'm going to hate HECS later, but right now it's my friend~
Anyway. Uni's something to look into. Talk to Campus Central or someone when uni starts, they'll prolly have some forms to fill out, I dunno. Like I say, it wouldn't be the first time someone's wanted to defer for a semester.
Then~ there are the dollars. Cos spending 6 months overseas, particularly in Pommyland where everything seems to be two or three times as much as here, is going to be expensive. I mean, like hell I'm just going to stay in the one spot. I'd want to go see STUFF. Like London. And other people I know. And OMFG the Ashes <3 <3 <3 I don't care how bloody much it costs to go to a Test match in Pommyland, I would so~ go to the Ashes. I could go to Lord's~ or whichever the one in Manchester is. Old Trafford, I think. The ASHES~ <3 Yes, we will probably whomp their Pommy arses, but we whomp everyone's arses. We did some damn fine whomping in India. There is nothing harder in the cricket world than winning a series against India in India. 'cept maybe winning one here against us. But we never have to do that X3
...I am so doing this X)~
Dad says he'd loan me dollars if/when I'd need them, which would be cool. Maybe I could, like, buy a car while I'm there then sell it when I leave. Gotta be cheaper than taking the train everywhere. But then, petrol's probably shitloads more than here too. Pommies on my list: how much is petrol? Hovers around a dollar a litre here, so it'd better not be a pound per litre. Cos that would be evil. I don't like this dollar-number-equals-pound-number thing.
And also~ Sallie? Coud you check if it'd be okay if I stayed longer than just the two weeks? I'll pay for board of course, whether your mother unit would take it or not X)
What else? Get a job while I'm there, waitress somewhere. I have experience now, so that's gotta count for something. Plus restaurants here love expats, so I s'pose it'd be similar in Pommyland. Ooh~ I wonder if the dollar-number-equals-pound-number thing works for earning money as well as spending it? I'd take £12 an hour quite happily =3
...OMFG the Ashes~~ *^^*
