OMG Something I've been meaning to say since... ooh... Monday?

Gillespie didn't get picked to go to South Africa for the Test series >< This pisses me off to no end. Yes, he was somewhat crap during the Ashes, but look at how he's been doing all summer for the Redbacks! He's been one of the most prolific wicket takers all season!

Again, I'm all for initiating the next generation of Aussie pace into the world of Test cricket, but we need smegging experience over there in our fast bowling attack. McGrath's obviously not going since his wife's got cancer again, so that's an instant blow, and Lee's too young and aggressive to really be showing the new guys how it's done, so that leaves Kasprowicz. Now, I love Kaspa, but that's still only two guys over there with experience. Lee's almost always expensive, so that leaves Kaspa. What if he has an off series? We're buggered then, nobody to fall back on but guys with a sum total of maybe 50 Tests between them.

I'm just frustrated to all hell. Along with McGrath, Dizzy's been my favourite bowler since he first got in the Test side. I know it's not just SA-home-bias talking; he's a seriously good bowler. Where do you think I got the name Gylepi from? Why do you think his horse is named Dizzy?

Nobody was even talking about Gillespie all summer, not in the national stuff, anyway. It was like they'd just completely forgotten about him, so people weren't even asking, "Hey... what ever happened to Dizzy?" The 'tiser and local tv news were all over him of course, berrating Hohns and co for not selecting him for the national side.

I love Kaspa, I'm warming to Lee after seeing him at the Adelaide Oval end of last year, but you can't rest everything just on their shoulders and hope the new guys pull through. We need more experience over there. I mean, look at the one-dayers! We've been absolutely taken apart at the death!

Just... ARG. At least Tait's going over there, so we'll have at least one South Aussie in the squad... but he's still a newbie, and so much a confidence bowler. He really needs a wicket in his first over or two, otherwise he kinda sucks.

I want Gillespie over there. I've missed seeing him bowl so much all summer. I've seen him bowling once, during the Pura Cup final. Not even seen him on telly.

Bloody selectors ><

*points at icon* I want those four all back together, all at once. Our pace attack isn't nearly so fearsome with just one or two of them there.

- It's as good as official. I can't do the two Flinders subjects I wanted to do.
+ I can do the English version (as opposed to the Creative Arts version) of Introduction to Creative Writing. From the syllabus it looks like there's near enough no difference between the two, 'cept that the English version is a second year subject with two or three prereq courses. Go figure.
+ I don't have to get up early for uni tomorrow =D
+ None of the English Intro to Stuff clashes with UniSA times. In fact, they match better than the Creative Arts courses. This is such a small positive tho that I'm being cynical about it =P

+ The people in my classes at UniSA rule. In my little... study group, I guess you'd call it, of four, we're all either Journo or ex-Jouro students. One doing Journalism and liking it (only a week in tho, so yeah, we'll see how she goes X3;), one doing Journalism and hating it, planning on quitting for the exact same reasons as me, and one ex-Journo student who also quit for the same reasons as me. I'm not alone! =D I feel so much more like me with these people. In Journalism... I dunno. The people were nice enough but I couldn't really get to know them enough to count them as friends. Just wasn't clicking. With this lot? Clicked at once.
- Flinders still seems like the better degree, course matter-wise. I'd so love to be able to do the stuff I've been doing at Flinders--get a task/challenge/thing set every week, write a page or two in response, spend the next workshop critiquing each other.

- I'm working Saturday night at the bistro. This sucks on SO MANY LEVELS because it's Christopher's 18th then (K8's brother). And there's no way I can get out of it, not without seriously pissing off the boss and generally getting off to a bad start.
+ He reckons I'll be there for three hours tops, meaning finish by nine, so I'll only miss an hour and a half of party.
+ I got paid $40 for my trial shift at the bistro the other week =D He told me at the beginning I wouldn't be, then handed over two twenties today when telling me my times for the weekend and said "Of course you're being paid oO"
+ I'll be getting paid cash for this job.

+ Hillsy tomorrow =D
- I have to pay for my ticket
+ I've already paid

edit =
+ Saw an E-Type Jag going to uni on the bus this arvo. Didn't know there were any in Adelaide. Classy~
- Had something else to say, forgotten it completely >>
