This is utterly ridiculous. I've always thought this since they came up with the idea, but having actually looked at the things they reckon are South Aussie herritage icons, it's even more ridiculous than first imagined.

Some things I can understand. Penfold's Grange, fair enough, they sell for ma~ny hundreds (thousands?) of dollars a bottle, famous Aussie-wide and known overseas to a few people too. Cooper's Brewery, again, fair enough, even tho I don't like beer. Glenelg tram, gorgeous old thing, there solely cos it looks old and charming. Haigh's, bloody delicious choccies, also in a lovely old building.

But really, some of the things make me wonder. A Hills' Hoist is a clothes line. There is a picnic table there, and bloody Humphrey Bear... Farmer's Union Iced Coffee made the list this year. Instead of the gorgeous hairy nosed wombat for an animal, they've gone with bees and a fish. Whiting, of all things, most boring fish ever.

What I really don't get tho, is in 2001, they put bloody STOBIE POLES on the list. Stobie poles are an eyesore! We're trying to get rid of the damn things and put all the powerlines underground! How in the bloody hell did stobie poles become a South Australian herritage icon?

Again, bloody ridiculous *shakes head*
