Oh you knew it was coming. The arts post, drawn at Uko's =D I have a couple inked that I'll colour on the computer, but the majority I coloured with my lovely Derwents, yay.

This scanned crappily, but whatever. Gemili, I've decided, is Raykinian for flower, and aeia is obviously death and the name of the goddess of death, so gemili aeiaa can either be interpreted as the flower of death or~ Aeia's flower, both work. The plant itself looks a lot like a spinifex plant, only with slightly floppier and therefore droopier leaves, which are also finely thorned, in that way that it's smooth rubbing it one way, but the other way it rips your skin off =D
The flower is primarily pale yellow with orange stripes on the petals, then there's the big red tongue-y one and the top one, which is red when it first blooms and turns yellow from the tip over the course of four days, and dies in another two. They're planted in front of gravestones, and bloom five years after they're planted, then once every year after that. All the plants in the area bloom on the same day, but it's a different day every year, some time in early Autumn.

And~ the flower of life or Lin's flower. This is the leafy green one the healers put outside their healing houses. It's named for the shape of its tiny little blue flowers, and the general clump they grow in, which is sorta water-drop-y, and of course, water is life in the desert. Because of the name, people used to think it had healing properties. If you dripped water from the cup-like flowers over a wound, it was supposed to heal it faster, and drinking water from it would extend your life. A few people still believe this, but not many.

Coloured with my watercolour pencils, hence the wrinkles in the paper that I couldn't be screwed erasing. I own that nighty =D Also~ first time I've drawn 'may with her hair down. She's so coot~ *^^*

New sketchbook =D I am so proud of this you wouldn't believe. Lynnlita's hair is so much fun~ XD And her jewellery, of which there still isn't nearly enough. She should have another ring or two, and more on her dress, but whatever, I like it ^^

This scanned SO BADLY. Damn Yamin and her pale skin and white hair. Anyway, obviously an accompaniment to Dolled Up, so you know exactly what two are coming next =D 'min is so much more simple than Lynnlita. Such a contrast~ XD; She should really have a healers band on her... left arm? Yeah, it wouldn't go over her bangle if it was on her right. So yeah, should have one, but it'd be right where the picture finishes at the bottom, so it would look odd.

This has lossa silver ink on it, cos silver ink's fun~ =D I love~ her hand, so so much.

And dear Nol, with his crown on, which means it's his hrai-dani, so techinically this wouldn't work as a set (Nimay wasn't General for Nol's hrai dani and so didn't have a black uniform, and Yamin wasn't head healer yet and so didn't have a blue healer's dress), but we care not. I wanted to draw Nol in his crown, damnit!

Ni-Yana! Which scanned badly as well, but we're used to that now. That's obviously the palm-lined Main Road, with the upper/middle class on the left (north) and the considerably less organised lower class/peasants on the right (south). There's the markets and docks next to the river, along with some farms, and the cliff in the background where the river comes out of the gorge. Yay!

I felt like drawing Nimay in army pants, which then led to her having a gun. Let it be known now that I can't draw guns. I copied that one shamelessly from a picture on gettyimages. Her pants were fun to colour tho X3 YES, I KNOW HER BANGLE'S ON THE WRONG WRIST. SHUT UP. And I may yet draw what she's actually sitting on. It's probably a Jag.

A spinifex tiger =D Yes, I misspelt spinifex in its name, shush. I love drawing cats like that *^^* The Raykinian desert needed a predator, so I've given it one now. The text is all readable, so I'll shut up with typing now.

Tied up with Hunter, it's Nol on a Ferrari! Which is why 'may is probably sitting on a Jag. She seems like a Jag kinda girl to me. Nol is so obviously a Ferrari man, for the single, solitary reason that it's got a horse as its symbol. I also can't draw cars, so I searched up Ferrari on Google and came up with that. I don't know what kind of a Ferrari it is, but it works for me. I also copied the shoes. And the gun. But I made up the pose myself! I sat on the couch, took a photo with my snazzy new camera, then drew it. I rule >D
And that's the lot, apart from two inked and not coloured ones. Yay!

Date: Fri, Oct. 14th, 2005 05:01 pm (UTC)I love Lynnlita's jewellery. Like ... fwuh. I'm not really coherent at this hour, but definitely fwuh. Every time you draw something it manages to be 10% better than the last thing ... you're gonna be seriously scary with a pen by the time you get to my age *waves cane* ...
