And~ we're back. Again. Properly this time. Some random things before I get stuff done and upload photos:
o Melbourne is OMFG WINDY.
o It also has OMFG FLIES. I mean seriously, like, DESERT standard. Well, maybe not that bad, but everyone has their own personal squadren of between two and ten flies depending on how much white they're wearing.
o The Crown Casino is bloody huge, and strangely tacky and stylish at the same time.
o I still don't understand the whole pulling-left-to-turn-right thing Melbourne has going.
o You can't escape Neighbours or Kylie while there. The freaking MUSEUM has a spot dedicated to Neighbours. The MUSEUM, PEOPLE.
o There is no such thing as parallel lines or right angles in Melbournian architecture.
o Free trams are cool. We should have more free public transport in Adelaide.
o Green Day still rawk incredibly hard, but the Adelaide concert was better >3
o It's impossible to buy a cheap Coke in Melbourne. We thought $3 for a can of it on the train over was bad, but no, that's pretty much average in Melbourne.
o I want factory outlets and the Queen Victoria Markets in Adelaide. Uber!cool jeans for TWENTY DOLLARS, people! =0
o I'm never taking the train from Melbourne back to Adelaide again. I did 42 hours from Manchester to Adelaide with no sleep, through five airports, with at least ten crying babies on various flights, got lost and frustrated in Bangkok airport and had to deal with icky luggage things, but this time? Ten hours overnight? Almost got frustrated to tears. Screw saving money, next time I'm taking the plane back.
o I <3 Green Day.
o I have a week's worth of advent calendar choccies to catch up on >9
o I really, really <3 Green Day.
o I'm ridiculously awake for not having slept since 8:30 yesterday morning. I'm getting good at this.
o I got a package from Alyssa~ =DD *glomps* Thanking you muchly hun! The card is absolutely beautiful, and I'm sure I'll be able to think of something for the notebook X3 *notebook obsession* X3 *glomps again*
o I'm so close to broke that you're not getting much more than cards this year, solly ._.;;;;; *GUILT* Gimme a tick to earn more dollars back and we'll be set X3 Uko and Sallie at least got crap when I was with them, and Silber-lub has Blackadder, and Cassie will be rocking up here some time in January, so I'll get her something then.... but still... *GUILT*
o On the plus side, I have extreamly cool and cheap jeans.
o Last post? When I was rocking from the houseboat? I'm now rocking from the train. Fleh.
o Stuff.
o Things.
o More stuff.
o Once again, update me on anything that's happened XD;;

Date: Sun, Dec. 18th, 2005 11:57 pm (UTC)And Melbourne is ALWAYS windy XDDD;. And full of flies in the middle of summer. And also confused, because like, one minute you can be in Melbourne in the middle of summer and be BOILING, and the next you can be freezing your ass off. You know what they say about Melbourne at the airport :D? "Welcome to Melbourne! If you don't like weather... wait five minutes!"
Crown Casino = the Parthenon of Melbourne XDDD;.
Also, funnily enough, we're studying "post-modern architecture" in Art Theory at the moment, and surprise surprise, at least three of the buildings we have to study come from Melborune XD;. WTF MELBOURNE. Yeah, I dunno either. Post-modernism bores me D:. Architecture bores me even more T__T;. It's actually making me actually wish we were doing Australian Art History again DDD:.

Date: Mon, Dec. 19th, 2005 12:17 am (UTC)And yes, I've heard that and experienced it myself XD; We got lost nearish to the G on our first day, when it was humid, muggy and 30-odd degrees. Then suddenly, going over a bridge, VOOMF, MASSIVE-ARSE GUST OF WIND that was like GALE FORCE. Now that is a cold front. Going from "I wonder if anyone would notice if I went topless..." to "WHY DID I NOT BRING MY JUMPER?" in literally three seconds.
I'm so glad I'm not a Melbournian =D;;

Date: Fri, Dec. 23rd, 2005 06:10 am (UTC)Ahh, Melb is great. Not as good as my Perth *haughty sniff*, but I grant it second place. (Having never seen Darwin, Bris or the Casa del Adelaide ... yes, comprehensive.)
And the markets rule!
