Am I the only one who works with Gawd knows how many layers on Photoshop (or your pooter colouring program of choice)? I mean, I see people doing stuff and saying "Woah~ I used at least 8 layers on this one!" and think "Oo that all?"

I kid you not, I used no less than 30, possibly more, on this one. Three layers per colour (base, shading and highlights) plus outline and a few extra ones for feathers and irises or whatever. Have recently gotten into the habit of naming my layers while I'm drawing ^^; Actually would've used more on that one, cos her fur and clothes have texture that got killed when I resized it, unfortunately.

Point being, is that weird? Am I the only one who thinks under 15 layers is not many? *blinku* *gets back to friends page*

Layers are brilliant. Means if you stuff something up you can erase it without worrying about touching other stuff ^^

I've only ever used PSP once, and that was 2 or 3 years ago, when anything that had more features than MSPaint was confusing ^^;

Photoshop all the way~ X)

When you first start off with them, they're prolly both equally as daunting, but like I say, I haven't used PSP for years~ and even that was only for a short while. I used gradients to shade for crying out loud Xx observe (http://www.bloogum.net/transwings/images/fanart/mine/preening.gif), or don't, your choice. It's embarassing ^^;;; I'd be able to help you with it better if you use Photoshop tho XD;

Because I'm constantly multitasking, I can't afford to have billions of layers. I don't shade and highlight on seperate layers anymore, and I try to combine colours into the same layer if they're not touching. My computer and my stylus will LAG if they don't have hella memory ready to them, and because I'm often running 10-15 programs at once, the more layers there are, the more it lags.

If I had my dad's computer (dual-proccessor G4 with like.. 2GB of memory. Drool~~) I would so use more layers... well, if I needed them ^^; But my average tends to be ten or so.. and no, I don't think that's a LOT, but it's more than I USED to use (as in.. two X);; And then I went up to 30 for a while, and came back to ten and am relatively happy with that number =3

Fair enough ^^ *has a spiffy, still pretty new pooter* X) Don't do too much multitasking, usually have max of 5 or 6 programs up at once, (few IE windows, AIM and/or MSN, Word sometimes, Outlook Express occasionally, Winamp and Photoshop) Cos otherwise I just lose what I'm doing XD;; So yah, virtually no lag. There prolly is but I dun notice it ^^
