Australian humour is pretty close to English, really, perhaps a bit more laid back? Until you look at Dave Hughes, anyway, he's a bit high-strung. So here we go! The best of Australian standup and musical comedy :D
Adam Hills
Hands down my favourite comedian in the WORLD. You can even get his show Characterful on YouTube, the full thing, even! Hillsy~ <3 He's from Adelaide~ and he's awesome. Especially loves jokes about language which is, yaknow, major YES PLZ for me :D
Shaun Micallef
Who you may remember from the last post of tv shows from Full Frontal. He has the greatest facial expressions XD He's not reeeeeally a standup so much as he appears on, like, every comedic show on Australian telly--Full Frontal as I've already mentioned, as well as his own The Micallef P(r)ogram(mme) (sadly cancelled cos Channel Nine is fail), Newstopia on SBS, Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation on Ten, regular guest on Thank God You're Here on Ten and has been the host of various events like the Melbourne Comedy Festival as you see here, I think he's done the Logies a coupla times now... Yeah he's a tv whore XD Specialises in sort of stating-the-obvious-only-not, sounding and Adelaide lawyer (oh yeah, bitches, Micallef is so ours) and wearing a suit while saying things that are in fact ridiculous. Very quick-witted, often appears on Thank God You're Here so I hiiiighly recommend looking him up there :DD
Kitty Flanagan
Who is impossible to search for without coming up with Good News Week or, again, Full Frontal. A serious chunk of Australian comedy came from that show. Kitty is one of the fabulously cynical ones. Love her a lot~
Tim Minchin
Musical comedian, turns up on a lot of ABC shows and seems to perform more in the UK than here =( But yes. Funny funny man :D
The Scared Weird Little Guys
More musical comedy from the Scaredies~ :D I think everyone on my flist has seen this one, but eh, I show it again anyway :D
Tripod
Easily the most famous of the comedy bands. Um. YAY! I'm running out of ways to say people are funny. They are, tho :D
Sarah Kendall
Who is REALLY hard to find on YouTube. Wanted to get her sketch of SKY SHARKS but couldn't find it =( She talks about how much more interesting life would be if we weren't at the top of the food chain. If, for example, we had SKY SHARKS. "Comparatively getting to work would be a bonus :D"
Hamish and Andy
Comedy duo who are on the radio in the afternoon :D You can even listen to them live online so long as you get the time zone right. They're dorks, and that's why we love 'em =3
Merrick and Rosso
Another comedy duo, mostly on the radio until Rosso quit omg =0 But their show on thecomedychannel on Foxtel is still going. Was debating whether to put them into the tv post or the comedians post, but the team came looooong before the tv show, so here they are. SO VERY SYDNEY but love XD
