I love the Crows~ :D Unlike previous years, round one of the footy has actually felt like footy season. Most often, the end of March is still sort of high-20s, low-30s type weather, so you're wondering why the season starts so bloody early when it's still clearly summer. This year, however, with I think it's safe to say the shittiest summer on record, it's felt like footy season for the last month or so.

YAY FOOTY! Started out slow in the first half, but omfg the third quarter 8DDDD I'm so used to them being brilliant at the beginning then losing it in the third, but tonight just flipped around entirely and it was AWESOME. SO MUCH LOVE. Dangerfield and Walker were on FIRE~ and Porpoise (my favourite :D) kicked the first goal within two minutes and VB got not one but TWO new-captain goals and akdjsh FOOTY~!

</footy>

In other news, not sure how I feel about Firefox 4. I like some aspects and not others.

I've been taking the train to work instead of the bus for the last two weeks, hence my lack of complaints about said bus service. Train is infinitely better. The latest it's been has been 2 minutes late. Man I wish Adelaide had more train services. I don't know what you people in other cities are complaining about. Trains are awesome.

I keep entertaining thoughts of making some sort of Own cookbook with all their signature dishes. Yes I'm a dork. Shush.

The trains in Melbourne aren't awesome. They're regularly late, the air-con doesn't work when it gets over 35C and they make me feel claustrophobic when they mysteriously stop between stations for minutes on end. Granted, all the public transport in Melbourne pretty much blows.

I would KILL for Melbourne's public transport. Or Sydney's, omg.

Adelaide is mostly run on buses. We have literally four rail lines, two that go out north, one to the southern beaches (which is out of commission for about a year while they upgrade it) and one to the south. Nothing servicing the eastern suburbs or the Hills, certainly nothing of any regularity, no bus services TO the said train stations or any sort of streamlining.

We have one tram line, which the SA government made a big deal of going from the city centre to the Entertainment Centre. That's about 3km away.

Buses are it. My road is supposedly a 15 minute Go Zone, meaning you're never supposed to be waiting more than 15 minutes for a bus from 6am to... 8pm? I think? Since moving here, I've never seen it earlier than 5 minutes late, regularly seen it 15 minutes late, and three times in two months been waiting for more than half an hour. I decided two weeks before making the switch to trains to not validate my ticket if it was more than 15 minutes, so in those two weeks, they lost $21 out of me, which is seven trips' worth.

The drivers are surly and rude, several buses don't even HAVE aircon, let alone aircon that works over 30C, they never have enough services for the number of people using them then use the big bendy buses on underused routes, there are virtually no services that don't go between X and the city, so if you want to go anywhere else you have to go into the city and change buses to get back out to where you're going...

Don't take your public transport for granted, it's shitloads better than ours D:

I'm not taking it for granted, but even I - someone who lives in the inner city - have had to wait forty minutes for a train and sometimes given up waiting after two hours of cancellations. Two weeks ago a tram journey that's meant to take twenty minutes took an hour. I found the public transport system in Perth much more reliable (and having now been to Japan it's like omg I didn't know public transport could be so good why is Australia so crappy about this, sob).

But I'm not denying Adelaide's public transport systems also blows!

I want Singapore's. That shit is incredible, yo. Even at arse-o'clock in the morning, there are trains every 2 minutes. And even foreigners can figure them out! I boggle at the thought of how any interstaters, let alone international travellers, could hope to navigate Adelaide's public transport. Still, at least we've got all of it integrated, using the same ticket for bus, train or tram. We've got that going for us!
