Well cock. Two of the things I want, and unsurprisingly the two I want most, won't ship to Australia. Again, I ask, why doesn't Amazon have a .au? D:

edit~ I once again feel supremely jipped at being Australian. Currency conversions make this stupid controller worth $27 if I could get it from the UK, $31 if I could get it from America, but because I'm stuck with the Australian market? $55. FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS. That's almost double what I could get it for from the US, and more than double what the UK is charging for it. JUSTIFY THAT YOU BASTARDS.

*flips a table*

edit the second~ I'm going to buy it preowned for $14. SUCK ON THAT, BITCHES.

*flips another table just for the sake of it*

What really pisses me off is when they tell you that an e-book from a well known author that is selling for a few bucks is not available to Australia. The version of the same e-book that is available to Australia is over $10! Absolutely ridiculous!

I really wish there was some way we could mass boycott this kind of thing, since that's the only action that'll actually mean something. Except a) that would mean boycotting pretty much the entire media--books, movies, music and games--and b) part of the problem is that the stuff just isn't available. Which then kind of. Yeah. Can't really boycott something you never had the option to buy anyway.

Basically I'm sick of our suddenly awesome dollar being taken advantage of =( It's a sad, sad day when buying something in pounds is cheaper than in Aussie dollars. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S DIGITAL wtf mate.

I've got to say, restricting digital media to countries is absurd. Just because I'm in America I can't have access to digital content that is freely available in the UK? And vice-versa? That kind of nonsense is absurd--it's not like you have to deal with shipping or customs or even region coding (don't get me started there!) or other issues like with traditional media--which makes things suck hard--but digital media?! Absolutely ridiculous.

I live in hope that eventually they'll stop the stupid restrictions. IT'S THE INTERNET FFS. Global media and all that!

And the various media wonder why I pirate everything that's not Australian. Srsly people, I'll watch it legally--spend money on it, even!--if you just give me the means to do so =|

And why can't they just unify the price? If an e-book is selling by an American company for $4US, why can't it be $4CAN or $4AUS or 4-pounds (TOO LAZY TO CHARACTER MAP THE SYMBOL) or whatever?? ITS DIGITAL MEDIA :| The cost of distribution doesn't charge based on the location of the customer! Shouldn't have to deal with currency conversion for something like that--I mean with us at some points buying something in pounds can literally double the cost for us, not to mention we get charged "foreign transaction fees" by the foreign bank AND by our domestic banks for buying in another currency, which increases the price even more. ITS INSANE

I will stop ranting now :|

NO DON'T it's a subject close to my heart, especially with regard to exchange rates.

For the longest time, the Aussie dollar has basically been shit. I'm talking 60-odd US cents to buy one Aussie dollar. I took more than $200 to the UK and didn't even get a hundred quid for it. I think I got about 70 or 80 from memory.

Now tho? We're better than the American dollar, and have been for a good year or more. Buy something from America worth US$40 and you're only pending AU$38 or thereabouts, even with foreign currency conversions. AND YET. Unless you're directly buying something from overseas yourself, like through Amazon (if they SHIP here, omfg) or ebay or etsy, then it doesn't make a difference. A book, for example, will still have under the barcode on the back that the RRP is US$15, blatantly obvious and unconcealed, and yet the price tag will still be $25. IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT ANYMORE, PRICKS.
