Today two awesome things happened at work!

Thing the first: I got a reply this morning from designer!boss to my "I can't keep doing this" email that I sent last night an hour and a half after I'm supposed to finish. Bosses are both currently in Sydney being trained on the shiny new printer we're getting in the next month or so. But yes. Email offers a day off when they get back from Sydney week after next, not counting as an annual leave day or anything, just a DAY OFF holy crap. They realise this is only a stopgap measure and will more seriously handle the situation when they get back. I've worked just about a full day's worth of overtime this week. Long weekend will be niiiiice.

Designer boss also called me this evening to reiterate this and express concern and it made me very squee, to hear that my boss would call out of hours to basically show appreciation. I still squee *^^*

Thing the second: I FINISHED WORK ON TIME HOLY CRAP IT WAS AWESOME AND AMAZING I GOT HOME AND THE SUN WAS STILL UP AND OMFG WOW. Would probably have stayed back if I hadn't already made plans this evening, but whatever. Over it. I do have a shitload to get back to on Monday, of course, but I'll be able to do some delegating of stuff to my fellow slashie* then because she'll be back from leave. But still. OVER IT.

Tonight~ up at Mum and Dad's for dinner, and also to meet a new friend yay! Friends of Mum and Dad's friends, daughter who is my age recently moved to Adelaide from country NSW, so we all met her tonight. Fun girl, totally on my wavelength, loves Monty Python and travelling and did a gap year in England and loves languages and accents and lamb and living in the Hills and wine and the Barossa and yes. Hit it off right away :D We have swapped numbers and will meet up for coffee over the coming months X3

Mum, Anna P and I were going to go to the Show tomorrow, but the combination of crap weather forecast, having to leave early anyway for big family dinner tomorrow night, and Crows playing the first finals match at around 2 in the afternoon has delayed this outing to next Saturday instead. So sadly the individual flowers and the cakes won't be looking so great, but the rest of the Show will be. I'll look at the digital art again and go "I could so win first prize if I entered" again and then not actually enter next year because trying to find the rules on their website is frigging impossible. But I'll say I'll do it anyway. We'll see :D

Wow when did it hit 1am? Didn't notice that happening. (4 minutes ago, 'narti, duh)

I am no longer broken! Hurray! I stopped being broken roughly Tuesday/Wednesday-ish I guess. Fine for work all last week, just still a bit dented, but I'm pretty much good now =3 Definitely good for Sydney next weekend, wheeeee :D

Show day was yesterday, last day of the Show, aww =( I love the Show. I went with my uni friend Alex, since Anna P is currently in Sydney herself, and much fun was had :D The first Friday would have been far more awesome weather-wise, but such is the risk you take going to the Show in September. Anyway, I had an umbrella and it wasn't bitterly cold, so all good.

I spent most money in the Taste SA tent cos it's freaking awesome. I got some honey, two pots flavoured with ginger and a third with cinnamon, which is REALLY nice melted into warm milk X9 Also got a stick of kangaroo metwurst which will be turned into many an awesome sandwich with cream cheese, oh yes. We sampled many a metwurst and scoffed the bumburner for really not burning your bum at all. The XXX Burner, now that was spicy. Mmm, metwurst. I was also tempted by nummy olive oil but managed not to.

Looked at various animals, including very relaxed cats, bunnies that look like balls of fluff with faces, fluffy alpacas and goats that looked like they'd be more at home on some rocky outcrop rather than in a pen, and~ probably some others I'm missing.

I also had a look at the arts before Alex turned up later. I may try entering that some time. The digital art category, which must be new cos I don't remember it from previous years, was largely crap. All the real media was gorgeous, especially the pastels. SO PRETTY. The photography... god so many bad and random Photoshop filters, why? D: There were, like, three people who knew what they were doing. See if I can be arsed throwing something at them next year for digi arts, might be fun =3

We did two rides cos it was cold and wet and this was during a period of no rain. Techno jump is always my favourite, basically a whole lot of bouncing around in a circle and it's awesome fun X3 No making you sick or turning you upside down or HOLY SHIT I'M GOING TO DIE moments, it's just fun :D

Showbags, just the TimTams bag (it has a mug!) and the traditional Bertie Beetle.

We even got to see the fireworks this time :DD I swear every time I've been in my adult life, it's either been too windy or pissing with rain for the fireworks to happen, so that was exciting. AND we got to watch from the special VIP members area, thanks to the free tickets from Cassie's parents X3 It was pretty awesome. Front and centre on the main arena, very nice X)

I love the Show~ <3 Everyone come to Adelaide in September so I can take you. Then, or in February for the Fringe Festival. Either or :D

ALSO. Entirely unrelated, but I've finally finished going through all my stories for the Big Book of Stuff. Well, all except Silent Harmony itself, but that's about 350 freaking pages and I can't be arsed cos I do actually know all that stuff. Anyway, in going through all those, I've rediscovered all these unfinished fics I want to finish )

That must've been one of the wettest Show days ever, definitely the wettest I've been XD; But it was fun! Looked at the kitties, tried to look at the sheeps but they were being judged and were mostly roped off, diary tent~ which is always yummy, and spent most of the time in the TasteSA tent. It's basically full of various South Australian produce, olive oil, metwurst, fresh bread, dipping sauces, all that sort of deli-esque stuff. Sooo tasty X9

During the hour or so that it wasn't pissing with rain, we did the rides. Well, one ride three times. Techno Jump, which basically bounces you up and down going around in a circle. One of the few that doesn't go upside down OR make you sick. Much fun :D

Later on, the wind started picking up, too, so we bought our showbags and left around 6ish, since the fireworks were clearly not going to be on.

Instead~ we went to see Tomorrow, When the War Began which was just brilliant. And I now cut this so Cassie can spare herself the agony <3 Read more... )

Suffice to say, if you have a chance to see this movie on the big screen? DO IT. DOOOO IIIIT.

LASTLY. Today~ I got my scanner and printer, woo~! Except the printer only came with one cable, the power supply. Waiting for a more tech savvy male to appear to find out if we have a spare... whatever it needs, or if I have to buy one. But yay, shiny new black things :DD

edit~ Success~ of sorts. We have a cable, it's just not a spare one. Need to buy one from Dick Smiths on Monday, but they're cheap as so that's okay. YAY PRINTER.

Forecast for Friday
Cloudy with rain periods developing during the morning, becoming more persistent during the afternoon with possible thunder. Local heavy falls are possible about the ranges during the evening. Cool with moderate to fresh east to northeast winds.

ALL RIGHT~ SHOW DAY :DD

My Google search bar has broken. This is most annoying.

Anna P and I went to the Show yesterday =D Fun times had by all =D Started out with the rides~ which involved the same one three times \m/ Cos we're awesome like that. Traditional baked spud for lunch while watching the woodchopping, which is ALWAYS won by the chunkiest bloke there, or a Taswegian. Usually a chunky Taswegian.

Wandered around getting free samples of various farm produce things, bit of wine tasting, mettwurst, cheeeeese only there was no camembert that we could spot this time =( Yoghurt with fruit, various stuff like that. Nummy. Wanted to pat the cats, but the ones being judged yesterday were all BALD and creepy. I don't get bald cats. They look like scary big rats.

Showbags~ I got the Bertie Beetle as per tradition, as well as two little Cadbury ones for $7, so yay, chocolate. Just realised I shoulda gotten a Bertie Beetle for Mum, too, since that's her tradition as well. Must do when I go next week with Alex *nods*

And I bought a cactus. Cos. I could. THE RAYKINIANS MADE ME DO IT I SWEAR.

And now some dot points, cos they really don't need more than that:

o Bugga footy. Bring on the cricket!

o I want a TARDIS so I can go back to last week and SHOOT St Kilda. Or at least their leading goal kicker. 94 points they needed to win by to bump us from 4th to 5th on the ladder, and they beat bloody Essendon by 100-odd. BASTARDS. Means that since we lost today to freaking Collingwood, we're out of the finals ><

o Pub tonight with Anna P~ =D

o K8 is in Japan, which I only just remembered AFTER writing that last entry. I rule like that, yasee.

o On the plus side! I know I won't be missing a Crows Grand Final at Manifest end of the month =D

o [livejournal.com profile] h_bee is finally getting updated! With half-hour landscape scribbles, but still! Art block is cracking!

o Fire Imps are fun, and yet there is already wank about them in Pre. People are weird.

o bloogum is playing funny buggers =/

o Exercised my democratic responsibility and voted again today. By-election to replace Alexander Downer. I've voted three times in the past, what, year and a half? When were the state ones again? I dunno. Seems a lot, anyway.

o Cocktail hour~! *skips off*
